Quick update on Craighouse “Scheme 3”

The Craighouse Partnership have submitted some new plans for Craighouse. The files are still being uploaded to the planning “portal”, here. There are very few pictures of the new scheme, so it’s hard to see what the buildings at the 6 proposed development sites and 12 car-parks would actually look like.

As you may know if you have been following the campaign, we have been working on an alternative plan for the site. This is going extremely well, with a lot of very useful people keen to get involved, including potential funders. So this is becoming very exciting. You can read what we wrote about this last year, here. We are still putting together detailed plans to present publicly, but expect to see these soon.

In the meantime, you can read what someone who knows a lot about planning and transport has to say about the new scheme here, along with a very detailed objection.

If you want to hear what the developers’ supporters have to say, here is an article by local journalist John McLellan supporting the development and criticizing the campaign in the Evening News. The article is called “Progress Versus Envy”.

Re the sale prices quoted by the Developer, we now have some comparables in Polwarth Terrace, with flats being marketed at £850,000.

Thank you. Sorry we’re being slow, we’re wading through documents and plans. Their enabling case is actually changing during the planning process: they’ve changed the file once already. The issue with prices is how large are the flats? The developer here are claiming very low prices for the conversions in the listed buildings and high prices for the new-build. This doesn’t seem too realistic to us.

This is absolutely ridiculous people want to buy a flat or house here and really notting to do with you. The building is sitting unused and the grounds look terrible it will turn into a waste land if no one uses it, so get a life and go on holiday or something. Really boring now can’t wait to get in and buy one once its finished.

Fantastic items from you, man. I’ve take into account your stuff
prior to and you are just too great. I really like what you have got here, certainly like what
you are stating and the best way through which you are saying it.
You make it entertaining and you continue to take care
of to keep it sensible. I cant wait to learn much more from you.
This is really a tremendous website.
